Seven weeks into the 2007 college football season and chaos would be a fitting way to describe what we have experienced so far. Just take a look at the first BCS Poll that was released this weekend: CBS.Sportsline.com BCS Poll If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that South Florida, Boston College, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Arizona State would have made up half of the initial top ten I would have thought you had lost your mind. One of those teams I could have understood, but certainly not all of them.
I would like to offer a big time congratulations to the Univeristy of South Florida Bulls who are far and away this seasons Cinderella. Jim Leavitt, the USF head coach, has done a wonderful job of keeping that team in check and building a great program down in Tampa. Leavitt’s team plays an aggressive style defense that likes to stack the box and take away the run while leaving to NFL caliber corners on an island in coverage. It would be great in the world of college football parity to see USF make the national championship game and take over the title as best college football team in the state of Florida.
Congratulations to Les Miles. You managed to screw up another season for a good football team. I mean the national media praises this dope all week for going for it on fourth down five times against Florida and somehow converting them all. Then, this weekend in double overtime , he manages to run the ball four times up the middle and goes down on the road in Lexington. I know, I have been talking about parity so far today, but LSU had no business losing to Kentucky, even with the best QB in college football being Andre Woodson. So, congrats Les, we have seen this train wreck before from you.
Tonight, will be a slow easy start to the blog with much more to come in the following days.
